Barksdale Hales, MD was born in July 27, 1857 at Paces, Halifax County, VA. Barksdale graduated in 1880 from the Medical College of Virginia and in 1882 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He practiced for many years at Fredericksburg, VA. He married Margaret Ann Rowlett on September 3, 1885. After the death of his wife, Dr. Hales married again to Mary Bennett. He passed away from heart failure on September 16th 1922 at his home in Millboro, VA.
