Christina Askew (Epsilon)

Grand Regent: 2019-2022

Christy Askew is a 1992 initiate of Epsilon chapter at the Univ. of Minnesota. At the University of MN, she received her BS Pharmacy degree in 1994 and her PharmD in 1996. Following a year of working both retail and critical care jobs she returned to complete a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Minnesota hospitals from 1997-1998. Since completing residency training, Christy has worked as a decentral pharmacist in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, specializing in critical care.

Christy served the fraternally internationally on the Executive Committee starting in 2013. As Grand Historian (2013-2015) her focus was on putting our history into more public spaces with transition of the 2011 history book into a electronic book and establishing history folders accessible electronically to chapters. As Grand Counselor (2015-2017) the long-standing structure of the three-person legislative committee was expanded to five members. Her focus during her term as Grand Vice Regent (2017-2019) was to engage the brotherhood in new ways with expansion of our social media presence. Serving as Grand Council Convention (GCC) Chair for the 59th GCC (2019) Christy updated the programming with the first student poster session and a virtual 5K fundraiser. Her term as Grand Regent (2019-2022) was intended to focus on infrastructure updates and expansion of leadership education but was changed in early 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Goals for the term turned to assisting chapters with disruptions due to the pandemic and infrastructure changes with the transition of the Central Office. Due to the postponement of the 60th Grand Council Convention, Christy’s term as Grand Regent was extended by one year.

Christy participated in the Fraternity’s committee system for over 25 years having served on a wide variety of international committees. She chaired the GCC Planning and Finances Committees (2017-2019), Social Media Committee (2017-2019), Legislative Committee (2015–2017), History Committee (2013–2015), Province Transition Committee (2011–2013), co-chaired the Province Development Committee for two terms (2007–2011) and co-chaired the Risk Management Committee (2005–2007). Additionally, she served as a committee member of Pledge Program Development (2011–2013), Ritual (2003–2005), Frank H. Eby Award (1997– 1999) and four terms on Graduate Development (1999–2005, 2009–2011).

In addition to her committee appointments, Christy served as Parliamentarian at the 56th GCC (2013) and has served five times in supervisory roles for the Provinces. She was appointed as Supervisor of Province X (2001-2003), Province III (2005-2007) and Mountain East Province (2012-2013), as well as Assistant Supervisor for Province I (2007-2009) and Province II (2009-2011). During the 2009-2011 term she also served as Province Supervisor Liaison to assist communications with the Grand Regent and Supervisors and develop Supervisor training materials. Within her own Province, she was elected to a two-year term as Satrap (2009-2011) and served for three years as Historian (1992-1995). With Minnesota Graduate, she has held the positions of Secretary-Treasurer for eight years, Historian for two years and Regent from 2008-2022.
